Ураган «Милтон» снизился до третьей категории

Ураган «Милтон», approaching the coast of Florida, has downgraded from a category five to a category three, according to the National Hurricane Center in the U.S.

CNN clarifies that its maximum wind speed is currently 193 km/h. The hurricane’s epicenter is now located less than 100 km from the Florida coast. The state is already experiencing tornadoes, heavy rain, and thunderstorms.

The hurricane’s strength is determined using the Saffir–Simpson scale, which ranges up to five categories. Recently, «Milton» intensified to a category five, indicating wind speeds exceeding 252 km/h. This has sparked discussions in the U.S. about the potential need for a sixth category for storms of such magnitude.

At the end of September, Florida and other southeastern states endured another devastating hurricane, «Helen,» which resulted in the deaths of at least 270 people.
